Coaching is not a science, there is no magic formula which a coach can follow to always get the client to their desired outcome, it is very much up to the coachee. Coachees are human beings; unique, complex and full of surprises. So, in the unpredictable realm of the coaching relationship it is essential that every coach has a supervisor they can turn to.

From an organisational standpoint you need to know how your coaches are performing. Providing coaching, in house or through external suppliers is a significant commitment, so you want to know how effective they are, who's ahead of the pack, who's not cutting it and who needs more support - a supervisor has this overview.

From the coach's perspective their supervisor provides expertise, advice, coaching, guidance, skills development, continuing professional development. Their supervisor will be someone they look up to, trust and respect for their own coaching abilities.

So, selecting your supervisor and training them to do their job effectively is an important part of the chain. If you don't have supervision in place yet - or perhaps aren't even sure if you know what's happening out there (we find this is the case with many organisations who approach us, so you are not alone) now is a good time to find out.

We can help in a number of ways.
  • Benchmarking - to identify your coaches effectiveness and performance
  • Supervisory selection and training
  • Guidance on implementing a tailor made supervision process for your organisation
  • Supervising the supervisor
